Cloth
A tunic or a tabard over the chestplate, wearing the design of any banner.
A cloth is a fourth layer: a garment over a chestplate, carrying the design of any banner you make at a loom. Sixteen dyes crossed with every pattern layer, so the heraldry is yours rather than a list the mod keeps. Two ship, a tunic and a tabard; a pack adds its own.
How it is drawn
The cloth is baked into the armor’s own texture rather than hung off it, so it moves with the armor, clips nothing, and the plate’s rivets and edges read through it. It sits over the skin, under every piece and under the trim. One greyscale cut mask per cloth ships the whole feature: there is no per-material art and no per-banner art. The garment reaches the leggings’ leg boxes for its hem, and it is still one garment: the leggings never carry it.
Applying one
At a smithing table or the advanced table: a cloth template, the chestplate, and the banner. The banner’s design goes on the cloth; the banner is used up. The advanced table’s row for the armor itself takes it off again.
Making one
A cloth is a mask on the two armor sheets, cut where the garment is and shaded by how it hangs. The command line has a preview that composites the game’s banner sprites over it on four metals; because those sprites are the game’s own art, the preview asks for a copy of the game and the editor offers Use my game… for the same reason.
